Over the last few months, I’ve been finding new owners for two of my toys. Many of you know them by their license plates +6PSI and TOYNBR3.

+6PSI is a 1996 Mazda Miata I’ve owned since 1997. I modified it extensively, kept all the old parts, and used it for Autocross events for a decade. TOYNBR3 is a 1988 Porsche 911, also modified and used as a track car until last year. I still have all the parts that were removed.

What does this have to do with the North Country Region website?

The process of finding new owners forced me to take stock of all those parts I had saved in the garage. While doing that I realized the website also has a lot of stuff in the corners:

  • Two decades of knowledge buried in my mind and fingers
  • A dozen login credentials required to maintain the site
  • Hundreds of Northlander PDFs
  • Thousands of articles
  • Tens of thousands of photographs

For both my garage and the club’s website, it was time to decide:

  • What should be thrown out,
  • What should be kept, and
  • What should be re-purposed or upgraded.

If you read the Northlander cover to cover, you’ve already followed this seven-month journey through these articles:

In August, I began transitioning maintenance and operations responsibilities to Mark and Ryan, and I couldn’t be happier. We’ve found two North Country Region members who are Porsche people, have today’s technical knowledge and skills, and want to work with club members to bring the site into this decade.

They’re quickly getting up to speed through our weekly one-hour meetings, using an online resource to capture ideas and tasks as we go. Their focus has been identifying what’s needed to hand off operational responsibility for the current site, with a target turnover date of September 30.

To prepare for a smooth handoff, we are working through the following steps:

  • Identify existing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual webmaster activities
  • Document all webmaster repeatable activities
  • Share all webmaster mail with Mark and Ryan
  • Side-by-side operations, with Mark and Ryan as primary and Dick still in the loop until September 30th.
  • Full operational switchover, with Mark and Ryan exclusively responsible and Dick assisting only when asked on October 1st.

As you read this, Mark and Ryan already have primary responsibility for the site, and I’m in the background answering questions as needed.

Over the next few weeks, we will be deciding what to throw out, keep, or upgrade. This month we’ll be asking for your feedback through a brief survey. Please take the time to respond. It’s your site, and this is your chance to help shape it. The current plan is to have the new site operational in 2027.

Together, we are going to make NCR-PCA.ORG the best PCA website in North America!
